Palatinate native, nature lover, tech enthusiast
Years ago I was already roaming through the Palatinate Forest — though not on foot with camera gear on my back as I do today, but one or two times a week on a mountain bike. Those were good times, yet the rides left little room to slow down and actually take in the nature around me.
Today, standing early in the morning on the rocks of the Palatinate Forest, it is different. There are few things more relaxing right now than watching nature wake up or settle to sleep here at home in the Palatinate Forest. Often those moments are captured together with fellow photographers, producing images of the Palatinate that many of us locals have never seen before. People often ask — "That's around here?" Not everyone willingly gets out of bed at 3 a.m. on a summer morning to drive out into the forest and climb the Palatinate hills.
Here on my site I present a selection of those shots under "Portfolio". Of course the camera always comes along on travels and city trips, so a few of those images have also found their place in the gallery.
An honest word about the current state of things: photography is on hold for now. The backpack stays in the cupboard more often than I'd like — other things have taken priority. This site is therefore mainly a retrospective. It shows what was, not what is currently being created.
The joy of it hasn't gone away. The Palatinate Forest is still there, the sun still rises over the rocks every morning, and the camera is within arm's reach. Perhaps the hobby will come back at some point — until then, the photos here will remain.
I hope you enjoy browsing through my photos. And if you have any questions — just ask! 🙂
Best regards
Thorsten
